The pathogenic Pseudomonas aeruginosa is detected even in small concns. in unsterilised pharmaceutical prepns. (including antibiotics) by cultivation in selective nutrient media contg. apart from the usual components, 1-3 g/l. of n-coco-beta-propionic acid and opt. a Cd salt (pref. 0.1-0.25 g/l. of hydrated CdSO4).
