Hot rolled rails distortion prevention - by clamping two together on cooling bed

Hot rolled rails from the mill are clamped together base to base so that they cool without distortion. Every other rail is turned over by a manipulator and the pair of rails is then held in position by movable arms until the clamps have been fixed. Subsequent entry to the straightening machine is greatly facilitated and longer lengths of rails can be produced.
