Flame-proofing synthetics and fibres - with pentabromofluorobenzene (1)

Pref. I is dispersed at the processing temp. in amt. 0.3-10, pref. 1-6 wt.% w.r.t. the plastics or synthetic fibre opt. together with other additives. The m. pt. of I is 199 degrees C, lower than that of org. brominated flame-proofing agents used up to now, and I is more sol. in technical solvents. I is a single cpd. with constant m. pt. solubility and Br content, whereas many previous brominated flame-proofers are mixts. I may be used in e.g. polyester, polyamides, polyurethanes and polyolefines.
