The opening devices in the floor deliver on to a transporting device e.g. a conveyor belt running underneath. The opening devices can be fixed, with free running conveyors between them, or movable on carriages. The roof can have pressure plates forcing the bales on to the opening devices. These may be under a bale-level determing control. The carriages may have a grating through which tines, needles, etc. of the opening devices work.
