1372712 Safety harness TELEFLEX Ltd 18 July 1972 [23 July 1971] 34792/71 Heading A3V A lap belt particularly for an aircraft seat 10 comprises an assembly 12 at one side of the seat in the form of a buckle 13 at one end of a flexible stalk 14 and an assembly 11 at the other side of the seat which includes a spring-loaded webbing retraction reel 17 for supplying a variable length of webbing 16 having at its free end a buckle tongue 15 for engagement with the buckle 13 and manually releasable snubber 29 which normally engages the webbing 16 to restrain its movement into and out of the reel 17. The webbing 16 is led from the reel 17 through a cover sleeve 18 having a spring steel member 22 therein to form a flexible stalk terminating in a plastics cover 31 in which the snubber 29 is pivotally mounted on a pin 28. A spring (not shown) normally holds the snubber in a position in which teeth 32 thereon engage the webbing 16 and restrain its movement into or out of the reel 17. A release trigger 20 on the snubber 29 allows manual pivotal movement of the snubber to release the teeth 32.
