Impregnation of wood with fluorides to - protect it against insects and delay

The wood is first treated with an H2O-soluble fluoride and this fluoride is then fixed into the interior of the wood by further treatment with a metal salt or mixture of metallic salts which cause pptn. of slightly soluble salts or double salts. Specif., a supersatd. soln. of a fluoride or a slightly soluble double flouride is applied to the wood, and pptn., occurs as the wood is dried.
