An oral infuenza vaccine is produced by adding comminuted kidney tissue obtained from 17 day old chicken embryos up to 3 week old chickens and an pathogenic infuenza virus strain adapted on the kidney tissue culture of the chicken embryos to a culture medium contg. sources of C, N, glucose and mineral salts, carrying out culture at 34-38 degrees C for 48-120 hrs and separating the required product. Pref. a stabiliser is added to the virus contg. liquid produced to allow lyophilisation. The prefd. stabiliser is 10% aqs. peptone, added in a ratio of 1:1.
