Glass - with two resistance states, by reducing mixt of - vanadium pentoxide and phosphorus pentoxide in two stages

V2O5/P2O5 glass is prepd. by (a) heating a mixt. of 5-32 wt. % P2O5, 58-95 wt. % V2O5 and =18 wt. % other compatible glass forming oxides, under reducing condns., to form a glass in which a part of the V is reduced to a form with a lower valance than 5, and (b) heating at least a part of the gas under reducing condns. in a second stage until the amt. of V with a lower valance than 5 is 10-27%, pref 12-25%.
