Fodders contng acid adducts of amino cpds - as non-protein nitrogen

Fodder, esp. for polygastric animals such as ruminants, contains (a) =1 amino cpd. (pref. urea or an aminoalcohol, esp. monoethanolamine) bound to =1 mineral acids (pref. H3PO4) (there being =1 equiv. of mineral acid per mol. of amino cpd., and the pH of a 5% aq. soln. of the adduct bring 1-10); (b) micro-ground calcite, and (c) other additives (e.g. salts, minerals, vitamins, antibiotics, amino-acids, preservatives, as well as grain products, molasses, oil-cake etc.); the amount of ingredient (a) being 0.01-20%, pref. 0.3-20%, based on the dry wt. of the fodder. The fodder has the advantages of very low toxicity and increased content of biogenic elements as compared with prior fodders contg. non-protein nitrogen.
