1387690 Rotary air filters CLAYSON NAAMLOZE VENNOOTSCHAP 17 May 1972 [24 May 1971] 23072/72 Heading B1T Air is filtered by passage inwardly through the perforations in a rotating cylindrical screen 33 which is in driving engagement with a ring 21 having a turned edge 22 close to the circular opening 8 of a stationary casing 3, solid particles being prevented by fan 17 from entering the annular gap 24 between turned edge 22 of ring 21 and the flange 9 on stationary casing 3. The apparatus may be used to keep the cooling device 1 (radiator) of the engine 2 of a combine harvester free from dust and chaff. Fan 17 is rotated by belt 20 and sheave 19 attached to hub 16. Ring 21 and screen 33 are rotated on shaft 43 by belt 55. Part 39 of screen 33 is not perforated because the centrifugal force is too small for a perforated section to remove to any extent dust particles from the air at this location. Also disclosed is an air filter comprising a rotary cylindrical screen provided with turbine blades, the tips of which are connected to the interior of the screen (Fig. 10 not shown).
