Zinc silicate paints - comprising zinc powder dispersed in a solvent and ethyl silicate

Zinc silicate paint which comprises two components mixed together when the paint is to be used. The first component is zinc powder dispersed in a solvent e.g. white spirit and the second component is ethyl silicate. The zinc is homogeneously dispersed in the solvent by a process which involves applying shearing forces to the solid phase. The zinc particles are wetted by the solvent and they do not flocculate when they come into contact with the ethyl silicate and hence they can be used in present industrial processes without blocking spray nozzles.
