The article is made from a thin base covered with a layer of compressible absorbent material, e.g. vinyl foam, impregnated with a fluid, viscous or powdered plastic material, e.g. PVC, and all heat moulded together as in DT 2004913; the mould is made from an impression of a mould of the article required and has a U-shaped profile formed on =1 side patterned on the inside to form a seam finish and with the U-shaped bulge preventing plastic material seeping out during the gelling or setting stage.
