Water-sol monocalcium phosphate nutrient - prepd from phosphate rock rich in apatite or magnesium minerals

Prodt. contg. 50-60% P2O5 mainly as monocalcium phosphate, 0-20% MgO as magnesium phosphate and less than 0.3% F, prepd. by treating CaCO3 minerals rich in apatite and/or magnesia minerals with concentrated phosphoric acid (IMI type). The prod. is suitable for addition to animal foodstuffs or drinking water. Preliminary partial neutralisation of the H3PO4 with magnesia slows the exothermic reaction of the CaCO3/H3PO4 reaction and permits final prilling of the prod. The prod. remains hard and does not pick up water after storage in polythene bags for 3 months.
