1298056 Grooving masonry OTTO BAIER KG 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 26255/71 Heading B5E A machine for milling a groove in a wall 9 of a building comprises a rotatable cutter head 4 and a body 5, 6 having a drain channel 10 for milled material, the channel leading to a receptacle 15 for the material. The cutter head 4 is mounted on a threaded shaft 3 driven by a gear-box 2 and motor 1. The body is in two parts, part 5 being secured to the gear-box and part 6 being connected to part 5. The gear-box 2 and part 5 are chamfered so that the cutter head is at an angle to the wall 9 and a small gap exists between the cutter head and the parts 5, 6. The channel 10 in the parts 5, 6 widens from its entry adjacent to the cutter head to its exit and a projection 11 extends into the channel for stripping material from the cutter head. A basket 14 is secured to the exit of the channel and an impermeable bag 15 or vacuum source is secured by a split ring 21 to the parts 5, 6. A frame 16 is adjustably mounted on the parts 5, 6 and carries a forward roller 19 and a pair of rearward rollers 20, adjustment of the frame determining the depth of cut of the cutter head. A seal 17 in the frame engages the wall during cutting and a stripper 18 is carried by the frame for entering the groove cut by the cutter head. In another embodiment, the basket and bag are replaced by a rotatable container.
