1325344 Electro-mechanical transducer HONEYWELL INC 27 Aug 1970 [28 Nov 1969] 41406/70 Heading G1N A magnet arrangement for providing a magnetic field for actuating a Hall effect device comprises a pair of permanent magnets 12, 14 of barium ferrite disposed in spaced parallel relationship and supported on a iron member 16 which links the magnets to reduce leakage. Each magnet has on its inner surface a pair of opposite poles which are arranged to be disposed opposite to poles of the reverse polarity on the other magnet whereby between the magnets a field is set up which exhibits a neutral point. A Hall effect device 20 is subject to the greatly varying magnetic field on moving in the inter-magnet space. To produce the magnetic flux distribution the magnets are magnetized in situ using soft iron elements 40, 42, on a conductor 44, Fig.3 (not shown).
