摘要
1417270 Manually propelled vehicles R E McLELLAN 20 Dec 1973 [20 Feb 1973] 60169/73 Heading B7E A vehicle comprises a frame 10 provided with a plurality of ground contacting swivelled castor wheels 11, 12, and a monocycle including a pedal-operated drive wheel 16 extending through an opening in the frame to contact the ground, the monocycle being mounted on the frame in a resilient manner such that the drive wheel 16 is biased away from the ground. In the illustrated embodiment the frame 10 is annular and has three castor wheels 11, 12 mounted thereon. The drive wheel carrying fork 31 of the monocycle is fixed to a pair of spaced bars which are interconnected at their forward ends by a cross-bar 19 resting on springs 21 on bolts 22 on the frame 10 and are interconnected at their rear ends by a similar crossbar and received within an inverted generally U-shaped bracket 30 fixed to the frame. A support member 33 extends between the seat 32 of the monocycle and the rear cross-bar. When a rider sits on the seat 32 the rear ends of the pair of spaced bars are pivoted downwardly against the action of the springs 21 which maintain the forward cross-bar 19 against the heads of the bolts 22, the wheel 16 thereby being brought into firm contact with the ground. To steer the vehicle the rider leans to one side or the other. When the vehicle is without a rider the springs 21 maintain the rear ends of the spaced bars in an upward position so that the wheel 16 is only in light contact with the ground.
