The coke consumption in a blast furnace is reduced by the injection and atomisation of a mixed liq. fuel contg. 3-50 wt.% of a light, liq. fuel of b.pt. 250 degrees C, also contg. fractions of b.pt. 150 degrees C, and 97-50 wt.% of a heavy fuel oil of b.pt. 250 degrees C.
