Activated sludge effluent treatment plant - with restricted flow from the aeration tank to the settlement tank

Regulation of the flow of liq. effluent in an activated sludge effluent treatment plant of the known type having an aeration tank in which effluent is treated and from which the aerated liq. and sludge is transferred by a pipe to the settlement tank, but in which the flow of effluent through this tank is controlled by limiting the flow through an outlet pipe of the tank, the inlet opening of which is installed a little below the normal liquid level in the tank. In partic. the inlet opening of the pipe supplying aerated liquid and sludge to the settlement tank is restricted, while a reverse flow through the inlet opening is regularly generated to maintain it free from obstructing components.
