1348104 Electro-slag refining systems BOHLER & CO AG GEBR 9 June 1972 [9 June 1971] 26997/72 Heading H2H An electroslag refining process in which a consumable electrode is remelted to form an ingot comprises the steps of using a first electrical transformer for the remelting of the greater part of the electrode and using a second electrical transformer for the "top end" heating of the electrode, the second transformer having a lower electrical power rating than the first transformer. The means for switching to one transformer from the other can be of any suitable kind and whilst the "top end" heating transformer is being used in one process the first transformer can be employed in the production of another ingot.
