In specified assemblies (i) thermoplastic sheets 8, 10 enclose a paper or fabric sheet 9, and (ii) the second thermoplastic sheet 10 is omitted from the assembly (i). The paper or fabric sheet may be printed with a wood pattern and may be melamine-impregnated. Adhesive may be used to bond the sheets. Thermoplastic sheet material should become soft at the exit point from the roller-belt nip, at which point extra pressure is applied by the pressure-roller 4. A belt 14 of low-adhesion material, e.g. p.t.f.e., silicone, may be provided to prevent sticking and is tensioned about a roller 15. The roller 1 and the belt 15 may bear a relief pattern.
