1339631 Selective printing RICOH KK 5 Jan 1971 [24 Jan 1970 (2)] 418/71 Heading B6F Magnetic information on a sheet S mounted on a drum 31 is read by a head 36 and printed on a sheet 40. The drum 31 revolves continuously and the head 36 travels axially therealong to read all the information on the card. A photo-electric detector controls operation of print members 105 in association with the information detected by the head 36. The detector may comprise a lamp (38, Fig. 4), rotating with the drum 31 and shining light through a hole (H) in the drum on to a plurality of photo-electric cells, or a fixed single lamp illuminates a photo-electric cell through a plurality of apertures in the drum. The sensed information is printed out by the print members 105 under control of electromagnets Mgr, each print member being impelled by a corresponding cam 110 which engages an interposer 102. The shaft 111 carrying the cams 110 is driven direct from the drum 31 through gears 33, 124, 123, and since the locations on the sheet S are sensed serially, the cams 110 are offset to cause serial operation of their print members 105. On each revolution of the shaft 111, a pawl and ratchet mechanism (115, 118, Fig. 6), line-spaces the sheet 40.
