Fibre reinforced rigid foam products - using withdrawable stamp for compressing fibres before expansion

Articles are produced by pouring a predetermined quantity of a foamable liquid resin into a mould cavity, introducing a predetermined quantity of air-contg. fibres in uniform distribution over the whole bottom face, compressing the mould content with air expulsion to its minimum vol. with an air permeable pressing stamp fitting into the mould cavity from the open mould upper side before the start of foam formation, gradually withdrawing the stamp to enlarge the mould cavity to a predetermined final volume during the foaming of the resin, and allowing the mould content to solidify after this final volume is reached. Gives foam articles which can be worked by cutting, e.g. building panels or blocks of foamed polyurethane.
