Finely ground pigments for addn. to polyolefins are prepd. by mixing 0.5-5 wt.% of a terrephthalic acid with the pigment before grinding to particle size is not 4 mu. 40-90 wt.% of a polyolefin based on the mixt. is added to the dye before grinding at the polymer melting point and the paste hardened and granulated. An example is 200 pts. polypropylene, 3 pts. terephthalic acid, 100 pts. carbon black. The prod. is used in monofilaments or very thin film (6 mu) where fine particles size gives high dispersive power.
