摘要
Combatting insects using triazine derivatives of formula (I): (where R1 and R2 are lower alkyl). (I) primarily affect the final stage of larval development, giving rise to the death of egg-larvae and inhibiting the emergence of adults from pupae. The mode of action is distinct from that of classical insecticides, chemosterilants and juvenile hormone. Since (I) are harmless to warm-blooded animals, their main use is in a new method for combatting fly-maggots: (I) are administered to animals such as poultry in the fodder. They pass through the digestive tract and are excreted in the faeces. Fly larvae hatching in the faeces immediately come into contact with (I) and their subsequent development is inhibited. Larger maggots migrating to the fresh faeces from old faeces also come into contact with (I), and flies do not develop from the subsequently formed pupae. (I) are also suitable for the protection of foods and stored goods in which insect larvae normally develop.
