1365518 Lubricating; valves BANDSTAHLKOMBINAT VEB 24 Nov 1971 [10 Aug 1971] 54616/71 Headings F2A and F2V The flow of lubricant through the bearing 3 of a drive shaft of a stirrer or agitator is controlled by a valve 5 in the downstream side of the lubricating system of the bearing, the valve being responsive to pressure variations in the stirring tank so that a predetermined ratio is maintained between the pressure in the tank and the pressure of lubricant in the system. Lubricant is pumped from a reservoir 2 to the bearing and then passes through a heat exchanger 4 and the valve 5 and returns to the reservoir. The valve comprises two chambers separated by a disc 7 connected to the interior of the valve housing by a flexible membrane 6. A hollow piston 15 is secured to one face of the disc 7. The piston is provided with apertures 8 or with slots of constant or variable width so that as the piston is moved the flow of lubricant to an outlet 9 from the chamber 12, in which the piston moves, is varied. The piston is moved by variation of the relative pressures on the disc, one side of the disc being subjected to the pressure prevailing in the stirring tank, and the other side to the lubricant pressure.
