In an hydraulic radial cylinder motor having a plurality of cylinders 2 mounted for oscillation in bearings 5, the supply of liquid from a pump via an annular chamber 19 and the exhaust to a sump via annular chamber 28 for each cylinder is controlled by cam actuated inlet and exhaust valves 9 and 10, respectively. The valves are interconnected by a tie rod 11 and biased against collars on the rod by a spring 13. The tie rod is screwed into a tappet 12 and urged against cam 18 by spring 16. The valve overlap may be varied by adjusting one of the collars on the tie rod 11 and the valve timing may be varied by screwing the tie rod more or less into the tappet 12.
