Pusher type furnace for bar type materials supported transverse on slide rails, with pusher device and side ways extraction of the heated material, whereby the sideways extraction device is in form of a retractable and vertical movable roller train is located on the back face of the furnace reaching through opening into the furnace interior. The roller train comprises roller shafts with geared motor supported on a layette with spindle drive for the protraction and retraction and a piston drive for the vertical movement. This constitutes a simple but effective device, which can be fulley automated by conventional means. An equalisation furnace reaction is not required and the whole of the furnace is used for the heating process.
