Fuelling machine snout assembly with integral self-aligning features for connection to fuel channel stand pipes to effect a pressure tight containment for on load refuelling. Particularly applicable to heavy water reactors of the CAndu tyre. Angular misalignment of the snout locating ring with the fuel stand-pipe produces a corresponding displacement of a spring retained tilting plate with consequent actuation of four pneumatic regulating valves set on the major axes of the snout carrier flange. Proportional pressure changes are induced in the pneumatic signal lines connecting to a central unit with outputs to servo-motor actuators controlling the angular alignment of the fuelling machine. The assembly is independent of temperature and irradiation effects.
