The train axle counting device, for a track section occupation monitoring system, has a count comparator for the recorded axles entering and leaving a track section (G2) returned to an initial position when a false occupation signal is given upon operation of a reset button (GrT). The comparator is coupled to a store (L) responding to operation of the next button (GrT) to hold the previous correct occupation signal for the associated track section (Gl) until the passage of the next train. Pref. the reset button (GrT) can only be operated to cancel the false track occupation signal after performing specified safety procedures, e.g. visual verification of the track section (Gl). PS.
