1460145 Shuttleless looms JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd 23 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 3668/73 Heading DIE In a shuttleless loom the gripper 6 of the inserter 8 which pulls the weft through the shed is opened by a member 4 mounted in such a way that it is moved by the inserter to an operative position in which the member 4 opens the jaws 6 of the inserter when the inserter moves in one direction and is moved to an inoperative position in which the member 4 does not influence the jaws 6 when the inserter moves in the opposite direction. As shown, member 4 is pivoted on links 10 from a support 2 and a stop 12 locates it in the operative position. In another arrangement, member 4 slides on inclined cam surfaces, and in yet a further arrangement the member is moved to the operative position by means driven from the loom main shaft, and to the inoperative position by the inserter.
