Blood plasma bicarbonate determination - using acid and indicator by colour comparison

Blood plasma bicarbonate concns. are determined by adding an indicator, pref. a mixt. of Methyl red and Methylene blue (end point pH 5.3), and a fixed amount of acid, the bicarbonate concn. being determined from the colour of the indicator by comparison with a colour chart. Titration is avoided.
