In the prodn. of chip-type wood particles for the prodn. of dry-pressed chip board sheets or moulded bodies, by the known technique of cutting veneer-like sheets from massive wood in a direction transversely to the wood fibres, breaking the sheets into flat chips and submitting these to further treatment by grinding, the veneer-like sheets with a thickness of 1-5 mm and pref. 2-3 mm are cut at an acute angle to the wood grain of 7-20 degrees and partic. 12 degrees-15 degrees and are disintegrated by the dry grinding into chips running to a point at their ends and to fibre bundles.
