Sized glass fibers and these molding compositions containing, as well as a process for sizing glass fibers

An olefin of mol.wt. 200-5,000 is used pref. a polybutene (CH3)3 C- CH2.C(CH3)2 -n CH2C(CH3)=CH2 (n not defined). The olefin is applied to the fibres in 0.5-10wt.% conc. in soln. or aq. dispersion together with a silane or polysiloxane surfactant. The fibres are used as reinforcement for polyamide, polypropylene, polystyrene, copolystyreneacrylonitrile, polycarbonate or polyphenylene oxide. The reinforced mouldings have good working props. and high dye affinity and the olefin agents are thermally stable at working temps.
