Multi-stage expansion evaporator - esp. for desalination of sea water with segregated condensers for each evaporation chamber

A common elongated tank is divided by transverse walls, arranged in pairs to form liquid seals, into a number of individual expansion chambers in cascade. A large number of horizontal cooling water pipes runs along a separate chamber the whole length of the rear face of the evaporator and these are divided by horizontal party walls into sections each associated by a discrete channel with one chamber. Distillate drainage is by holes in these divider floors. Advantages include i.e. compactness and high yield.
