Platinum cpd - for catalysts by reacting chloroplatinic acid with sodium carbonate and sodium bisulphite

Platinum cpd. has the formula: H3Pt(SO3)2(OH)2 (I) Used for the prepn. of platinum catalyst for use in oxidation, hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, reforming, cracking etc. Colloidal platinum particles with a size of 15-25A can be prepd. Cpd. I. is prepd. by (a) reacting chloroplatinic acid with sodium carbonate and sodium bisulphite, (b) pptg. Na6Pt(SO3)4OH from the neutral soln from this reaction, (c) adding a sulphonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer in the hydrogen form to replace Na, and (d) concentrating the soln.
