Slurry carrying vessel comprises a hold for the slurry cargo having an overflow drain port located in the hold wall above a predetermined loading level for the slurry cargo and an on-off valve-equipped free water drain port located below the overflow drain port, but slightly above the pre-determined loading level. A no. of filter equipped drain ports are provided in the bottom of the hold.
