Reforming of liquid higher hydrocarbons, esp. diesel or fuel oil, in cracked gas generators, by atomising the liq. hydrocarbon to a mist of droplets directly incident on the catalyst component in the cracked gas generator and by varying the path of incidence or the incident velocity of the mist as well as the preheat temp. of the liquid hydrocarbons as a function of the number of C atoms in the hydrocarbons molecule.
