Light esp visible concrete for building - contg. coarse aggregate and fine aggregate consisting of blast furnace slag sand, helping to improve heat insulating properties

Fine, opt. broken aggregate (A), used together with binder, e.g. cement and coarse aggregate in building matl. mixt. for light esp. visible concrete prodn. consists of blast furnace slag sand having a grain size of 0.4 mm and opt. of oversize pieces =8 mm. (A) contains, by wt., 0-25 (5-25)% particles having grain size 0.06mm, 5-40 (10-40)% particles having grain size 0.2mm, 20-80 (45-80)% particles having grain size 1 mm and 35-90 (65-90)% particles having grain size 2 mm. Coarse aggregate may consist of sintered slag, expanded clay or -slate. Vol. ratio (A): coarse aggregate in dry mixt. may be 30 : 70 (40:60). Strength of concrete is pref. improved e.g. from 235- to 345 kg/cm3, by renewed breaking up of pumice sand to increase fineness.
