The plates' pivots are on a cylinder and they are sprung to lie radially with their inner edges free and inclined correspondingly to the cone which enters, on the end of a ram, small end first with the film, previously cut automatically from a roll drawn down in front of the cone as it is discharged from a conveyor, through a first rubber, apertured membrane into the plate system, which wraps the film on to the sloping cone sides. The film edge is then stuffed inside the cone base.
