Mica-free jointing compsn - contg kaolin of raised particle size, thickener and binder esp polyvinyl acetate

Mica-free jointing compsn, which dries without cracking and is suitable for jointing contact points between walls plates after mixing with water to form a paste; also for filling and 'making good', consists of a mixt of 80-95 wt.% kaolin, a thickener and 2-10 wt.% (w.r.t. dry material) binder, where the kaolin has an adequate particle size distribution, esp. 14 mu av. particle size with =2 wt.% having 1 mu particle size, in order to prevent cracking without addn of mica. Binder pref. consists of polyvinyl acetate or starch mixed with polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl alcohol.
