1285447 Weight-transfer connections between implements and tractors D J FARRANT 12 Dec 1969 [13 Dec 1968] 59462/68 Heading A1P An agricultural implement, e.g. a trailer 21 is connected to a tractor by means of a tractor attachment comprising a bifurcated bracket 11 attached at 16 to the lower lift links and to a hydraulic ram 17 (replacing the upper lift link), the bracket 11 having a post 13 over which is fitted a ring 24 on a chain 22 fastened to the trailer, so that part of the trailer weight is transferred to the tractor rear wheels on retraction of the ram 17. The ring 24 will slip off the post 13 to prevent the tractor from overturning backwards, should the towpin 26 fail. The angle of the post is adjustable. The rams 17 and 18 are retracted to lift the tow bar 23 for connection to the towing plate 25, with the chain 22 in the full-line position; the chain 22 is placed in the chain-dotted position for towing. Two or three implements operating in parallel may be coupled by chains to points spaced along a yoke 31 which itself is coupled to the chain 22, to enable the implements to be turned without fouling each other.
