Non-aqs dispersions of heat-curing film-forming polymers - derived fr monomers and an amine resin

An alkylated amine resin (e.g. an alkylated melamine-formaldehyde condensate) is dissolved in a non-aq. solvent (e.g. an aliphatic naphtha distillate) and a first reactive ethylenic monomer (I) having a functional epoxy gp., is added to the soln., followed by a second reactive ethylenic monomer (II); both monomers being free from functional OH gps. The monomers are then copolymerised in presence of the amine resin, a polymer which is insol. in the solvent and evenly dispersed therein, being obtd. Used in mfre. of tough glossy hardenable protective or decorative coatings e.g., for vehicle bodies or parts. (I) is an epoxy (meth)acrylate, and (ii) a (meth)acrylate or acrylonitrile or similar to (I).
