Dental caries prevention - by treatment of carbohydrates with animal or vegetable bactericides

Commercial sugars, sweets, esp. toffee and chewing gum, flours and starches are treated with a mixt. consisting of e.g. blood plasma, amniotic fluid or egg white, and cloves, bergamot, cumin, geranium, mint or eucalyptus in order to eliminate the microbial flora of the mouth which usually form acids by the breakdown of carbohydrates. In an example egg whites were heated at 70 degrees C then powdered and mixed with 1 wt.% of clove essence. This was added to coloured, flavoured glucose (1.5-2.5%), and the mixt. made into sweets, keeping the temp. 55 degrees C.
