A ferrous alloy article is lined with a copper alloy by mechanically cleaning the article, chemically etching it, subjecting parts of the surface which are not to be lined by the Cu alloy to a graphite dressing treatment, tinned the article by a dripping process and placing it into a mould where the Cu alloy alloy layer is applied under such conditions that the interface between the alloy layers is at a temp. higher than the liquidus of the Cu/Fe alloy system to form a solid soln. free of discontinuity between the article and the lining.
