Plastisols are prepd from vinyl chloride (co)polymer powders suitable for beating into foams (ie contg. emulsifiers) using rapid mixers, with the improvements that the plasticiser initially added to the mixer contains 1-6wt% (based on polymer to be added) of methylene chloride or 1-3C aliphatic alcohols. The liquids prevent rapid increase of viscosity on adding polymer, allowing more rapid addn. for shorter mixing time, and act as antifoams. The plastisols can be foamed and gelled conventionally to give eg synthetic leathers, carpet baskings etc.
