Detergent soap soln contg alkyl polyethoxy sulphate - and a detergent salt to reduce soap stains on clothes washed in hard water

The compsn. contains 20-80% (40%) of a water soluble soap (Na, K or NH4 salt of 12-20C fatty acid), 3-30% (10%) of an alkyl polyethoxy sulphate RO(C2H4O)nSO3M (where R is 10-20C (12-15C) alkyl, n is 2-6 and M is a salt-forming cation (alkyl metal, NH4, lower alkyl or alkanol amino); 5-40% of a detergent salt chosen from alkali metal carbonates e.g. 1-15% Na carbonate, silicates e.g. 1-15% Na silicate; plus additives such as optical blue, filler. 0-10% of solvent (ethanol, propanol, ethylene glycol) may be added with 0-10% of a hydrotrope. The sulphate and detergent salt addition prevents deposition of soap stains on clothes washed in hard water and improves the detergent power of the soap enabling use of reduced amounts. The compsn. is stable, retains low viscosity and does not precipitate after storage.
