The coupling consists of three parts only; a male cylinder with parallel flats engraving a second member via a single leaf spring (female part) where right section is a regular polygon. Production thus is simpler and cheaper than devices employing several leaf or helical springs. The coupling is smooth and silent in operation and may act as a torque limiter - a clicking noise is an indication of the transmission of excess torque. Operation can be at high temp. in humid or dusty atmospheres with no lubrication or maintenance required.
