Foam mouldings with rebated edges - moulded using cavity masks over the mould mouth

Mattresses or seat cushions are made by assembling 2 premoulded foam blocks with peripheral covers on the mating surfaces which reinforce the adhesive bonded interface against local shear. Rebate steps are formed by using a masking plate which partially overlaps the cavity. Esp. for mfr. of bed mattresses, automobile seating etc. The foam cover may have reinforcing inserts or springs. Eliminates need for wide external reinforcing or masking tapes for the interfacial joint, allows a single upholstery cord to mask the boundaries of the assembly.
