1340124 Hydrocarbon compositions GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 21643/71 Headings C5E and C5G [Also in Division F2] Fluid flow friction loss (viscous drag) on the transmission of hydrocarbon liquids is reduced by mixing with the liquid up to 200 pp.m of a catalyst free polysiloxane of mol. wt. at least 700,000. Specified hydrocarbons are crude oil, gasoline, kerosene, fuel oil, jet fuel, liquified petroleum gas, pentane, cyclohexane, isooctane and toluene. The siloxane may be metered into the hydrocarbon conduit in the form of a concentrate (up to 25%) in a hydrocarbon solvent. Many polysiloxanes are exemplified, polydimethylsiloxane being preferred.
