Alternatively the elongate member may be manufactured with a discontinuity where the sleeve is to be placed and the procedure from (b) above followed. The sleeve may be a vinyl hand grip, and the ends may be joined in any manner (e.g. by welding or pinning). The sleeve may be secured in its final position by adhesive.
